Bard PowerPort Catheter Claims

Baskin Legal is investigating Bard PowerPort catheter claims for patients and families in Florida and Alabama who suffered serious complications after a chemo port or implantable venous access device failed.

What Bard PowerPort claims involve

The Bard PowerPort is a surgically implanted port-a-cath used for chemotherapy and long term IV treatments; lawsuits allege that design and material defects make the catheter prone to fracture, migration, infection, and blood clots (thrombosis). When the device cracks or moves, broken pieces can travel into the heart, lungs, or blood vessels, causing life threatening emergencies that often require surgery or interventional radiology to remove the fragments.

Diagnoses and complications we are looking for

Families in Florida and Alabama are encouraged to reach out if a Bard PowerPort or similar Bard port catheter was implanted and any of the following happened:

  • Catheter fracture or breakage shown on imaging, with pieces migrating in the bloodstream.
  • Serious infections, including bloodstream infection, sepsis, or abscess that required IV antibiotics or port removal.
  • Blood clots or thrombosis, such as DVT, pulmonary embolism, arterial thrombosis, or cardiac/pericardial tamponade.
  • Cardiac or vascular injuries, including cardiac arrhythmia, cardiac puncture, vessel or organ perforation, or emergency surgery or ER visit related to a failing port.
